day eleven of favorite female characters

Molly Weasley is sometimes harshly judgmental, overly protective, and makes ugly sweaters. She's also a deadly foe in wand dueling.

Movie-Molly. Look how young Ginny is in this picture!
Molly is passionate about her family: fiercely proud of her children, loving toward her eccentric husband. I can't imagine what it was like when all of the children were young. Do wizards have primary school? Did she home-school all seven of them until they were old enough to go to Hogwarts? Whatever the case, Molly has creativity, patience and lots of love. (Imagine being a parent to Fred and George Weasley. And then having more kids after them...)

Certainly her iconic moment dueling with Bellatrix Lestrange is going to be first in many people's minds, but I also like Molly's persistence. She tried to talk some sense into Percy. She was flexible enough to move from her home into the house at Grimmaud Place, when that became necessary. She became a member of the new Order of the Phoenix, even though she knew exactly how much of a risk that constituted. (Both of her brothers were original members, and both were killed by Death-Eaters.)

I really love that moment in the duel, too, though. Heh.
