I finally got the chance to go and take my driving test yesterday. After the month of going to drivers ed every Saturday for 8 hours a class, scheduling driving time, going driving for two hours, the repetitive proceedures, I was finally ready. Those of you who know me know that driving scares the heck out of me, well it used to anyway. Ever since I started taking drivers Ed, I got a little more comfortable about it. Then after actually driving, especially after the 3 hour haul to Deep Creek Lake, I actually started looking forward to getting my lisence.
So Tuesday night I get all of my stuff together. My stupid Rookie Driver book, complete with filled out forms and drive time log, and everything that I could possibly need to get my lisence. Or so I thought anyway. I took a half day off from work, so that I could make sure to get to the MVA in time, and drove all the way up there. I get there just in time for my driving test. Yeah! I'm finally going to get my lisence!
No.
I found out that I didn't have a little half sheet of paper that my driving school supposedly mailed to me. I had at least three other documents that not only had the name of my driving school, where it's headquarters were located, where I actually went to school, and who my instructors were, but evidently that just wastn't as good as that stupid little slip of paper. I was EXTREMELY upset.
Now keep in mind, you evidently have to schedule your driving test with the MVA now. That was a trial in and of itself. First off the number that 411 gave me for the MVA was busy for, no joke, 3 hours. Then when I finally get through to someone, they tell me that I have to call another number to schedule my test. So I call the other number to find out that it's not the number that I need, but a 24 hour information line telling me what requirements I need to meet before I can get my lisence, and what I have to bring with me for my test. I listened to that stupid recording at least 4 times, never once did it say anything about that little slip of paper.
Finally it took my husband going to the website for me and getting the right number for me to schedule my test. Which I did and then well... you know.
So anyway, I go home, all upset. My hubby cheers me up and then we start to settle down for the night when my mom calls downstairs "I found that paper you were looking for." After I had already called my driving school and paid $10 for a duplicate copy to be sent to my house.
I had a rough day.
