I hate modern technology

Or maybe it's not the technology, but rather the minutae of using it.  Today:

I moved into my new apartment.  Yippee.

Had the DishNetwork guy show up within the first hour of the time window.  Double Yippee!!

Discovered said Dishguy couldn't do the installation because various landlord regulations wouldn't let him.  Major suckage, as I now have to pay for the receiver that got toasted in the fire.

Regrouped, and hauled out the start up package for my dsl internet.  Got that connected (with the intention of finding the number for Comcast cable) and figured I'd give SBC a call to see if they could get the wireless connection straightened out so I can walk around my apartment with my laptop.  In short, half an hour with SBC followed up with a half hour call to Hewlett-Packard who told me I need a software patch from the manufacturer of the dsl modem . . . I gave up and plugged the fucking ethernet cable back in so I could get online.  Tres annoying.

Called Comcast (and got somebody who spoke the local language!) and ordered new service along with a dvr receiver (damn you Kristel for hooking me on the pause-live-tv crack).  Most grateful, as the building is already wired for cable tv.

I'm now stuck without tv UNTIL TUESDAY.

Grumbling aside, I'm off to the grocery store to buy ice cream and a movie to watch tonight.
