Bugs live in a brutal world.
I just watched a bug that looked like a flying ant with wings attack a spider and kill it.
(I'm outside on campus.)

I'm very speciesist when it comes to my home. Only members of my own species are invited. Beneficial gut microorganisms and related probiotic foods are a special exception.

When I was home today, I saw an ant in the living room. I've seen a few and I already put out poison bait houses and I thought that took care of the minor ant issue, but then one more ant today. I stomped on it and came back with a tissue to pick it up. It was squished but wriggling. I couldn't get it free of the carpet pile, so I went to get my Dyson vacuum, which can suck up all the things. It couldn't get the ant.
I paused and watched the ant a little. It looked like its head was attached to the carpet and it was trying to free itself. I couldn't tell how it was attached. It looked like it was trying to back up. Sometimes it wriggled itself into a headstand. Its back section was dented in, but all of its legs were still functional.
I left it like that, left my home.
I'm sorry to leave you suffering, ant. It's a brutal world for bugs.
Edit, 21:45: Came home. The dented ant is gone. I killed another ant walking across my carpet.
