Literary License
One of my hobbies is collecting interesting license plates, license plate holders, and stickers that I see on cars. (no, not literally :) )
It’s safest to do this while walking, of course, or riding in a car, but I’ve done it while driving. Carefully. It’s less stressful than thinking about the price of gas, and less dangerous than talking on a cellphone, which is now illegal in California in any case. (Although it’s still legal to dial or text-message while the car is in motion. How is that safer? Blog opinion on that here (http://blogs.computerworld.com/why_californias_new_cell_phone_law_fails_the_logic_test)
But I digress. )
Anyway. Here are some license plates I’ve seen recently:
O RVRDVA
RMAGDN
GOVT CHZ
I’ll let you readers guess on these, and provide further details in the comments.
You almost had to see this one to believe it. It was a black Volkswagen New Beetle. Yeah, the one with the bud vase on the dashboard. (I almost want one for that alone :) )
Rear license plate holder:
TO THE BATCAVE...
I had to look at the front. Sure enough, no number, but the familiar Batman logo, a black bat silhouette on bright yellow.
On to stickers.
DIE TAILGATER SCUM
Ooh, I want that one!
I BRAKE FOR WENCHES
With a little picture of a skull and crossbones on one end, of course.
I guess I might as well include the ones on my Volkswagen Golf:
I’D RATHER BE EATING CHOCOLATE
and
IMPROVE YOUR IMAGE
BE SEEN WITH A CAT!
And then there's this one…
got poodles?
…which I’ve seen twice. The first time, I almost rear-ended the SUV it was on. (Original post on that here )
Finally, a couple of license plate holders:
IF YOU DON’T LIKE MY DRIVING
STAY OFF THE SIDEWALK
Ouch!
