This is amazing. It's such a fantastic spin on Jack's missing two years, and what it could do to him to remember them. Incredibly, incredibly well done.

(On a kind of unrelated note, especially if you're not a Buffy watcher, but Jack really reminded of Angel without his soul, in this very good -and evil!- way)

Thank you, you're so kind :)

I haven't seen much Buffy -- I'm waiting for the reruns to show up again -- but I have seen some Angel and some Angelus. It's an interesting parallel. I've read a couple of Angel/Jack slash fics. Hmm...what if Angelus crossed paths with Jack the Go-To-Guy? (No, I'm not going to write it!)

What lionessvalenti said only maybe in CAPSLOCK

Seriously do not be nervous this was awesome!

Jack. I thought you could handle it. I thought you were okay.
All hail the all powerful god that is Ten *sighs* Nine woud never have done that to Jack EVER!

Aww, shucks! *blushes* I'm not entirely convinced Ten would do it, either. Nor Jack. This is a particularly nasty AU. But I couldn't resist the bunny. (A bunny with fangs!)

See now here's the thing:
I do not believe canon Jack was ever the "go to" guy he claims in Countrycide (and hinted at KKBB) his interogation skills are pants (I can only assume the writer of Sleeper just never watched enough cop shows or soldier movies!)

But I kind of like the idea that he might have been which normally means reading Jack/John Time Agent stuff...

This? Was just so refreshing - and your interpretation of goto!Jack was just- Excellent.

We're in total agreement there! IMO Jack was lying to the cannibal in order to help his team. Obviously he knows how to cause pain, as he did then, but that's not the same as torturing as a matter of course. I can even buy what he did in "Sleeper," if he believed the human race was in serious danger -- and he was pressed for time. (A while back, I think I read it in a fanfic, it was suggested that the "Sleeper" aliens could have been the same ones that Jack was fighting when his friend (cousin?) was tortured to death in front of him, in which case he'd know firsthand what they were capable of.) Even so, if I remember correctly, he wasn't inflicting pain to get information -- it was just a side effect of the device they were using.

...his interogation skills are pants...

Um...what were you actually trying to say there? Dropping his pants? :)

I'm not comfortable with the idea that the Jack we know could have ever been a torturer, so I ( ... )

Well done and written, but for me it just rings totally false; even as an AU. Just. NO.

I'm so, so sorry, but I know I would want an opposing view on things that I had written.

Just my 3 cents on the shekel.

NOW - DON'T STOP WRITING!!!!!!!!!! You have a talent for dialogue and a good sense of timing. I liked a LOT of what you did, just NOT the subject matter.

Ok? MOAR WRTNGZ!

I don't entirely disagree. IMO Jack was lying, or at least greatly exaggerating, in "Countrycide." I don't see that kind of darkness in him. If it helps, think of it as a nightmare. The Doctor's, or Jack's -- you pick. I sure don't want to see it in canon, and it's not part of my regular fanon, either. But the plotbunny wouldn't leave me alone. (And, once she saw it, neither would my beta ;) )

I know I would want an opposing view on things that I had written.

No need to be sorry! I knew readers were going to have strong reactions to this. (I like poking at wasps' nests, too ;) ) Hell, I wrote it, and I still can't read it without a major case of DO NOT WANT!

I liked a LOT of what you did, just NOT the subject matter.

That is one awesome comment. Thank you :) And I don't intend to stop writing. Ever.

By the way...have you read my other fics? They're nicer :)

Seriously? You don't think she managed to offer a perfectly valid reason to give enough bones to her portrayal of this version of Jack?

Or do you mean you can't see the Ten having given him back his memories in the first place?

I should point out (repeat even) that I absolutely do not believe in the 'go to' guy Jack claims to be as portrayed in canon.

BUT
I was able to really go with the notion that he could have been once and *those* were the memories that had been retconned out of him AND that Ten is egotist enough that he would give him those memories back.

I was actually waiting for the torture to start...

Sorry to disappoint you. Now you know how Ten felt! *is evil*

(i am a sicko, I admit it). Well, that makes two of us ;) Yes, I'll read it. But I won't write it. Besides, I think not writing it is scarier. *evil grin*

Thanks for reading and commenting :)
