Our love is dead but without limit, Like the surface of the moon

This past month has been very uneventful. I am not doing anything in regards to school, work, and overall life goals. I have been sitting around, planning the next few times I'm going to see my friends. I keep putting the Bibliography project aside, even though I do have a deadline and I really should send a draft of it out next week. I haven't ( Read more... )

I too was in this slump of apathy. So I shall now use the opportunity to digress and reflect upon the matter - the objective of which is to arrive at an implicit solution.

Lack of motivation is really just the psychological response to the perception of zero need. The treacherous nature of present prosperity is like an assassin posing as our butler - he says "Yes, you relax now while I provide... I shall return from the kitchen with your second serving of the feast..." but instead, he returns wielding the Dagger of Forsaken Opportunity. One cannot defend oneself after being drunk and full from the feast, and so the master falls victom.

This is not to say that the present should not be enjoyed - that one should not take time. But the sluggard is like a temporale glutton - over indulging in the resource that is time, she becomes too fat to respond to the problems of the future.

For 'free time' is like the calm before the storm. The fool says "the clouds will dissipate" and is washed away in the flash-flood that ensues. But the wisewoman gathers her resources promptly - not allowing for any opportunity to wash away.

Actually, 'free time' is not really free. Instead, it is like a loan of time that has an interest rate that depends on our actions. The one who invests this 'free time' in the village of today shall be repaid with the kingdom of tomorrow. The one who squanders this temporal money shall forever curse Tomorrow, as it will be the creditor to whom one owes for the rest of one's days.

Go, therefore, and search your future self for need and direction. Your future problems will give you the motivation that you need now, in the present moment. Exercise your foresight so that you will never find yourself lacking anything.
