Queer Eye and Ellen DeGeneres

I jumped late on the train of the Queer Eye love, but enjoyed it a lot for a few months. Since they came back from the last hiatus some boredom has set in. I watched the last 2 episodes yesterday - the stand-up comic, Kevin, was not very nice to look at, even after the make-better, and his jokes were too vulgar and not funny enough for my taste. At least, when Vincent sang in the wrong key, the guys mentioned that he shouldn't quit his day job. Now I'm supposed to believe, they thought Kevin did well? If those jokes were the best from his set, he's never gonna make it. The episode with Warren was simply interesting for me, because it showed me how much money one has to spend to present one's work for potential financiers. I used to sing for over 10 years, but never made decent money at it, and never, even though I had some nice gigs and some glowing reviews, really made it. Well, it turned out alright for me, but I still retain some interest in the music and theater business. Contrary to my beliefs, when I was younger and much more naive, the business side is much, much more important than the talent.
All in all, I'm afraid the thrill is gone between me and Queer Eye.
After the 2 Queer Eye episodes I watched Ellen DeGeneres "In the Beginning". She seemed pretty subdued to me during her act, but I liked her performance a lot. A lot of good observations, she has great timing, but most of all she is so likeable to me. She comes across as such a nice person. When the credits were rolling they had some questions/comments from the audience and this one woman made me tear up, when she thanked Ms DeGeneres for coming out. I think privacy is extremely important and often find too much sharing repulsive but I realized how much the sharing of one's fears and desires can help reassure another person who feels left out and alone. Anyway, the interpretive dance Ms DeGeneres did to recount her coming out was a funny and discreet way to handle this. Very enjoyable.
