Playing hooky

Well, not really.  I am sick.  I made the call in last night and left a message for John and one for Sharon.  That way I got to sleep in and didn't have to worry about getting up to make the call.  Which was nice.  I got up once Dustin and the kids left and took more meds and went back to bed.  And I think I'll have another lie down before I go pick up Miles from daycare.

And it wasn't a complete wash today.  I put some pictures in Miles' baby book.  I can see where scrapbooking would be fun.

I can't believe I just wrote that down.  I've never really been into doing that.  But I can see the appeal.  I need to do something for Cailyn too.  I kind of slacked off on hers.

I've been trying to figure out a good time to visit my parents.  I've got it narrowed down to the first two weekends in October.  We'll have to see I guess.  Need to check their schedule.  See if dad knows when he goes back to work.  They mentioned visitng Grandma at some point.

Oh!  Something ym mom mentioned the other day.  We got off on some tangent or other and she told me that one of my great-grandmothers (great great great...so on and so forth) in Pennsylvania was a midwife.  And that no woman under her care died during childrbirth.  Something like 900 something women. This was pre-Civl War.  That really impressed me.  Also that there was one part of the family (I think it was the midwife) that was part of the underground railroad.  Of course there was also a branch that lived in Georgia and owned slaves.  So I guess they balanced out.

Also, on a touched by history note, my great-Grandpa (Pop) once delivered groceries to Bonnie and Clyde's hideout .  They'd moved on by the time he returned with the police.  I don't think he knew who they were.  Just that they'd held him at gunpoint and demanded he open up the gas station and sell them gasoline.
