Rating: K+
Characters: Perceptor, Skyfire
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: Questions, research, hypothesis, testing the theory, analyzing data, and communicating results are the fives steps in The Scientific Method.
Prompt: Skyfire/Perceptor - The Scientific Method
The professor’s assistant offlined his optics. Rebooted them. The just-arrived student - in need of some serious tutoring - just looked down at the classmate who’d volunteered to bring the incoming transfer student up to speed.
“You have never heard of the Scientific Method?” The red mech asked, astonished that the question came out calmly.
The large shuttle transport shook his head.
“The basics then.” Perceptor vented. This was going to be a long session. “First step - Observation.”
Perceptor was right - the study session did take a long time. But his student proved to be a good listener and observer, with questions that showed he was paying attention to the lesson.
Title: Saving lives
Rating: K+
Characters: First Aid, Firestar
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: Shockwave’s weapons are nasty.
Prompt: First Aid/Firestar - Do No harm
Laying on the berth, Firestar gazed into the concerned optics of the medical trained Protectobot. She nodded firmly.
First Aid cut through the damaged abdominal plating, nicking pain receptors. Even as Firestar winced, First Aid removed the smoking armor, tearing more sensors and melted liens.
Firestar bit back a scream as the rooting servos spread cooling gel and healing nannies over the unseen internals, making sure all the acid had been caught before it could eat into the coolant tubes, energon pumps, then the arm retreated. Firestark quipped. “Maybe I should have blocked with my arm instead of my chassis.”
“Perhaps.” First Aid replied nonchalantly, gladdened by the indicator she was going to live. He picked up the disintegrating slab of armor. “Don’t think both your arms together could have absorbed enough of the shot.”
“No harm, no fowl, right First Aid?” Firstar asked.
Title: First meetings,
Rating: K
Characters: Springer, Kup
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: The beginning of a beautiful thing.
Prompt: Springer/Hot Rod - Going My Way
The Autobot triple changer, leader of the Wreckers, huffed. “Who does he think he is, ordering me around?” Springer asked just before stepping in front of Kup’s closed doors. He knocked.
Blowing a hole in the doors, if they failed to open was always an option - it was Springer’s preferred way of getting past secured corridors and into rooms. It also happened to be frowned upon while on an Autobot base.
The door opened.
Ancient Kup and his adopted youngling stepped out before the irate Wrecker could shove his way inside.
“You wanted to see me, sir?” Springer saluted.
Kup spat out the remains of a rust-stick. “Need someone to watch Hot-Rod while I’m away.”
“The Wreckers aren’t a youth sector!” Is what Springer said, when what he really wanted to say was, “ None of us have caretaker coding!”
“I k now that,” Kup growled. “I also know Hot Rod wants to learn from the best - and your team is the best.
“Just, keep my charge alive.” Kup handed the care and keeping of Hot Rod over to Springer.
Springer watched, dismayed, as the ancient mech (rumors insisted he had been sparked before the Golden Age), turned to the untrained, unquialified youngling. “Going my way?”
Title: Weapons Range
Rating: K
Characters: Perceptor, Lancer
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: Not every mech in Optimus’s Army is limited to one skill - as Elita’s team well knows.
Prompt: Lancer/Perceptor - Target Shooting
“Nice shooting” Perceptor praised his opponent.
Lancer lowered her rifle. “Scopes off.” She broke down the blaster, smoothing away natural wear and tear in the weapon.
Perceptor stepped forward. He didn’t even appear to aim before his laser-rifle lowered. Five targets fluttered to ground, centers smoking. Two others had vanished completely. “There is something to be said about recoilless laser-guns.” Perceptor stepped back.
Lancer readjusted her grip on the freshly cleaned, just adjusted rifle. “Besides its silent firing and the no-time-to-notice-before deactivation?”
The red plated scientist shrugged. “Every mech expects Bluestreak to be the sniper - and with no witnesses to notice the flash …”
“Come back to Cybertron. Elita could use your skills in cleaning out Shockwave’s labs.” A faint bell rang, signaling the end of the shooting match.
“Tempting my dear, very tempting.” Perceptor checked the scoreboard. “Looks like your kill rate is still superior to mine.” He bowed out of a rematch.
Title: Beautiful encounters

Characters: Hook, Megatron
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: Megatron finds a firm, assertive hand, most appealing.
Prompt: Megatron/Nightbird - Bludgeoned
“Ow! What struck me?”
“The human construct, my liege.” Hook replied respectfully.
“With a right hook like that, are you positive she’s human-built?”
Hook hesitated. He’d heard a faint rumble of anger hidden within the question. “All the materials in her construction are earth metals - there is no hint of cybertronium metals in the frame.”
“At least you know how to tell me ‘no’ without blowing everything out of proportion.”
“There are others who need medical care, my liege. With your permission -“
“Just a moment, Hook.”
Hook obediently stayed at attention.
“Cybetron or earth manufacture, the robot ninja would be a good addition to our forces. Find a way of recruiting this NightBird.”
“It shall be done.”
Title: Advice
Rating: K
Characters: Prowl, Vortex
Universe: Generation 1
Summary: Prowl, the guru love expert? Vortex thinks so.
Prompt: Vortex/Prowl - Crazy In Love
Showing none of the fear that filled him, Prowl ignored the rest of Vortex’s team. “This is a crazy way of getting my attention.”
“I’m not after you.” Vortex snarled. “It’s your battle computer.”
“That is firmly attached to my processors.” Prowl shifted his doorwings. It was vital he track the unseen gestalt members as they started to circle him.
“Just a few questions, and you’ll be good to go.”
Prowl kept his gaze focused on the Decepticon interrogator. “You want my advice?” Hysterics threatened to well up within him. He squashed the laughter (and relief) as firmly as he killed the fear. “Go ahead and ask.”
“How do you tell someone you’re crazy for them?”
