Karen Kingsbury LEARNING: Bailey Flanigan Series
Bailey
Bailey Flanigan has made it to Broadway - but the trials, troubles, and tribulations don't stop there.
Getting there was only half the battle. Maintaining the dedication and effort that won a spot isn't nearly enough to keep her there.
Miss Flanigan also encounters quite a shock between the accepted (and tolerated) lifestyles of her fellow cast members, and the family values her parents raised her with. It is not easy sharing God's message of love, hope, and forgiveness with them, and sometimes, she wonders why God placed her in Broadway, if there is going to be so much hatred and opposition aimed her way simply because she is a Christian.
If the issues at work aren't enough, she's torn between her old flame, Cody, and the new one. Her parents can't choose for her, can only listen as she shares her delima. Same with the other adult parental and grandparent-like figures God has providentially placed in Bailey's life.
Confusion may reign in here heart, but she is determined to move forward. Move beyond old friends if necessary.
Forgiveness is necessary - it is an attitude of the heart. A gift that frees people to move one (past grudges, old hatreds tie us up emotionally)
Cody
Cody Coleman, is also in a tough situation.
The small-town football team he's been coaching, has stepped up its game, and is no longer apathetic about the game and sport, but they still haven't connected as a team. How will Coach Cody get these Lyle Buckaroos to work together as a knit-together team, or a band of brothers, when they don't interact much outside of class or practice?
His friend-who-happens-to-be-a-girl Cheyenne, is slowly rebuilding her life after that horrific car accident that almost took her life - but she's not going to let a measly 'almost' stop her from walking, talking, and making memories (or a difference in the lives of others). She has Cody to help her during the rehabilitation effort.
On top of that, Cody is torn emotionally. He is tied to Bailey Flanigan, the girl he thought he loved (still might, his heart's undecided), but he's also heavily invested in Cheyenne's life - not out of duty, but friendship and because they share interests, and have similar histories growing up.
Learns that he can repay the man who stepped in and saved his life years ago - by opening his heart and home to the lost and hurting students.
Ashly -
Ashley Baxter Blake loves her husband, the father of their kids - but his recent medical leave has her frightened for his health, and wondering what the future holds. Ashley and Landon both pray that he does NOT have polymyosithis. If it is not the dreaded lung-disease and muscle killer, then they don't know what might be causing Landon's lungs to fail.
Ashley's family, friends, and the community that simply knows something's wrong, pray together, asking for healing for Landon, direction, a clear mind (fear has changed his personality and he is not behaving like the man she married), and assurance that God is with them throughout these trials of life, season of despair and upcoming losses.
It is okay to share burdens - to speak about the deepest, darkest fears that are assaulting you in the middle of the night.
