I gave in and watched PACIFIC RIM the other day.
It wasn't as bad as I was expecting - blame critic reviews and a pessimistic attitude towards 'action' movies due to bad experiences.
The Pacific Rim was good, and I enjoyed it. The explosions were funny. (Most of them), and the fights were good.
Except one.
That one was the long extended battle both my brother and I were complaining about as we walked out because IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE! (the flying breach monster after it lost its tale).
We did love this line: "pulse?" ... pulls out plasma guns, shreds the monster, "check, no pulse". Or something similar.
Because the writers made the movie elements plausible - aliens and giant robots aren't normal everyday expectations, yet combing the two was fabulous, and exciting! Whoot! - and possible within the story, they really pulled the script off.
Will I See Pacific Rim again? One day, yes. But not right away. I can wait until it comes out on BlueRay, DVD, or is released on Netflix.
