Right on schedule, the Space Gate activated.  Shockwave readied himself for an update on the status of energon conversion rates, and confirming the next shipment of fresh energon cubes to Cybertron.  He, expected to see Megatron giving the report, or Soundwave, in their liege's place, if the beloved leader could not make it.  He caught himself nodding in satisfaction and stopped the motion.  Useless jesters picked up from humans wasted precious energy.

Shockwave nearly reset his optical sensors when the image, broadcast from the Nemesis bridge, shot through the SpaceGate, condensed into a familiar Seeker's visage on the screen. Starscream, as second in command of the earth-locked Decepticions, would be the next most logical choice to request an update, and advise on strategy sessions, which difficult enough when Megatron was actually on planet with the majority of his officers and forces, and made almost impossible with the elite forces trapped on an organic world.  Despite the fact that Starscream was on the very short list of approved contacts when it came to requesting an update on Cybertron's status and how the rebuilding was progressing, only in the most dire of circumstances was the Air Commander supposed to take over. Starscream’s trine members were not on the approved list of ‘accept reports’ and ‘give a situation report’ at all.

Still, ThunderCracker, bruised and battered, had just recently arrived from battle, if the still oozing wounds were any indicator, perhaps the Seeker was just informing Shockwave that the latest update would be delayed.  Delays happened, and almost every warrior had permission to inform Shockwave when Megatron could not make it at the anticipated time.  After giving the appropriate authorization codes of course.  Such delays and announcements were rare, since there had been no permanent deactivations upon waking up on Earth.

The not-yet repaired flight commander, second under Starscream himself, did not give Shockwave an opportunity to ask about the status of Megatron or Soundwave. “Lord Megatron has been neutralized.” The blue Seeker stated in a calm, emotionless tone of voice. “The Constructicons are doing their best to repair the damage. It does not look good, and if Megatron’s spark does not stablize in the next joor, he will not recover.”

Shockwave utilized his one optic to examine Thundercracker. The mech, not knowing he was under intense scruntiony, continued. “Soundwave also badly damaged. His cassettes that are still online are hysterical. The others were deactivated in battle. We think it was one of Wheeljack’s inventions. In particular, a prototype that has not been sabotaged by one of our sleeper agents. Suggestions, Shockwave?”

Shockwave stood up. The mech on screen was Thundercracker. The background was consistent with Nemesis construction. It was therefore logical to assume that the data being offered was correct. “Reinforcements can be sent through in two orns. Can you hold out that long?”

“Two orns? Yes. Prime’s Autobots have not pressed the advantage, and we do not know why. Perhaps they are merely bidding their time, for our supplies to dwindle further.”

Shockwave did not associate with the lower ranked officers. The competent Decpticons lasted. Those under them did not. There was no information about Thundercracker stored on file. Perhaps that situation should change, if Thundercracker would be the spokesmech for similar situations in the future. Normally, the leaders and superiors did not sound hesitant or offer opinions without any facts to back them up. That was a sign of weakness, which could get one killed.

Shockwave decided to accept the information regardless.  If the information was accurate, there would have been no opportunities to give ThunderCracker the proper confirmation codes. Time was of the essence, and his drones could hold their position long enough against the female Autobots, even with many of their numbers being sent to earth. He stepped up to the screen and sent instructions to the drones intended to reinforce the Decepticon presence on earth. “It is done. Do you know when more energon will be available?”

The grin Thundercracker had on his facial plates was disturbing. “In about two orns..” He looked down at the communications board, as if searching for the appropriate dial to cut off the link. “April Fools, Shockwave.” Thundercracker gave a weird wave, probably picked up from the squishies.

Shockwave froze in shock. His single optic dimmed. Thundercracker watched from the other side of the screen. “You still there?” Shockwave could not move. His processor searched his memory banks for human holidays, but drew up blank. “Shockie? Slag, Skywarp is going to be disappointed.” Finally the screen winked out, leaving Shockwave to deal with the tripped processors on his own.
