What books did you read as a kid that stuck with you?
Not just your favorite, but what book do you see the cover of randomly as an adult and suddenly remember reading it as a kid and being like 'Holy Moley'?
Myself - Walter Farley's BLACK STALLION series.
(Which does include the four books with FLAME, the red-stallion who - except for coat color - is probably the closest match to the Black Stallion himself).
Another - BLACK BEAUTY. (A classic no matter which edition one sits down to read by a fireplace).
A Secret Panel - book # 25 of the original HARDY BOYS mysteries - listed author is
Franklin W. Dixon. [version I read was gifted from my dad]
(WAIT - that's a pseudonym for multiple GHOST WRITERS since 1927? Huh. Learn something new every day).
Alas, the VERSION/EDITION of the Hardy Boys DOES matter. Every new reprint brings a slight rewriting of the characters (and story) to make it more relatable to the newest readers/current pre-teens & teenagers.
