So not in the mood

Music - there are so many genres, so many styles, so many performers and artists, it can be hard to find a FAV.
Holiday music, on the other hand - compared to the ocean of original songs - seems to be concentrated on a handful of classics.  Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, and a few others from the golden era of radio had some good songs.  BUT with many aspiring artists retweeking their memorable songs, it can become very repeticious.

(WARNING: RANT)
I am so SICK of Santa-Clause music and Santa Clause stories!  (I don’t mind seeing him in the mall, or parents take a picture of their children with the man in red).
Please stop commercializing Christmas!  (It’s not about the STUFF that makes the holidays so great).
SANTA is not the forerunner of gift giving, of mercy, and forgiveness.
Frosty - that beloved snowman of children everywhere e- is magical only to those who believe in make-believe.
Rudolph would be blinded by his nose - Logistically speaking.
~ Yes, even traditional hymsn got tiresome - . - after a month of non-stop playing secular seasonal songs are so overdone, I can barely stand to listen to one more replay - EVEN IF  A YEAR HAS GONE BY SINCE I LAST LISTENED!
No “revisions” or changes and updates to tunes and words - every artist’s unique twists and take - can overcome the mind-numbing sameness!
~ lack of hope ~
No message of hope, of inspiration, of courage, is expressed.  It’s always “take, take, take” or “gimmie, gimmie, gimmie”, because of course having the latest and greatest stuff ‘makes us happy’ and ‘leaves us feeling satisfied in life’.  Uh, have you actually listened to the longing of your heart?  I have, and it says STOP WITH THE NONSENSE!
Listening again and again to Santa visiting mama, hearing again how Rudolph saved Christmas, or a melting Frosty promised to come back again next year (when the snow is thick enough), makes me upset and sick!  Both stomach and heart.
So, can we please put common Christmas music on hold till sometime in December?  Mid December would be great!  But if you’re one of those traditionalists who say Christmas is not special until you hear those special songs - like Winter Wonderland, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”, Sleigh Ride, Deck the Halls, Jingle Bell, Jingle-Bell Rock, A Marshmallow World, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” A Holly Jolly Christmas, or a whole slew of others - these are okay in moderation.  Like once an hour, or once every thirty minutes, or even every other song, but NOT NONSTOP playing!  PLEASE, I BEG YOU!
Brand new songs - with fresh lyrics, not revamped versions of childish classics with Santa or his team, are okay - better than okay, brining new tales to the holiday season.
Those I will listen to - and likely enjoy.  … some have catchy, memorable lines and phrases, like the almost forgotten reason for celebrating - with gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Even some Christmas traditional carols get old, but I hear them so little, so ill frequently, I still enjoy listening and singing along, remembering them - and their message - with gratitude.
There are a few traditional selections - like “The Twelve Days of Christmas” - that are being pushed aside for stuff like Grandma getting run-over by reindeer, or Santa taking over the world,   IT’S NOT RIGHT!
Remember, there is a time and a place for everything  - followed by MODERATION, not obsession (even if it is labeled something else, like ‘fanaticism’ when it comes to song selection).
So please, please, don’t be the one insisting the rest of us have to listen to over eight hours of North Pole Make-Believe, or Santa and his Magical Helpers - both elves and reindeer.
