Title: Delacyed Gratification
Rating: PG-13
Continuity: - The Empire Strikes Back
Author: Rose0mary
Summary: revenge is a dish best served cold - OR - Boba Fett jumps at the chance to catch Han Solo (not all of the reasons are job-related)
Author’s Note: I’m taking Boba Fett / Han Solo background interactions from “The Han Solo Trilogy” by A.C. Crispin (way back before A Phantom Menace had even appeared).
Professional Bounty-Hunters did not inwardly jump with glee when being hired by Lord Vader.
Boba Fett prided himself on being a professional. He might have allowed himself a small smirk of satisfaction upon learning who the target was - Han Solo. I’ve got you at last - but that was it.
Hunting down Han Solo had been a goal of his ever since they first tangled - many, many years ago, before Solo had teamed up with that damnable wookie partner. No matter how much humiliation - private or otherwise - Solo had put him through, Fett refused to go after a target when there wasn’t someone willing to pay for a death or capture.
Jabba had set a bounty on the smuggler-turned rebel a while back, but nothing had come of it. Solo was very good at eluding capture.
Now with the Empire - and Vader himself - putting a priority code on the rebel-pilot, Boba Fett had no problem placing all other paying jobs on hold, while he focused on getting his prey.
One target, two payments, three reasons to savor the day Fett finally got his man. (The other five Bounty Hunters on Executor would be of no real importance. They would not succed).
