My best friend had to put her four-legged companion down.
I feel for her, because that little dog has been her faithful friend for over ten years now.
"I have to think of what's best for him" doesn't make the reality any easier - even if he had recently become blind in one eye, had heart troubles, and very sick with an unkown infection, possibly very contagious and potentially deadly to puppies or older dogs.
"I'M A FOREVER DOG.
NOT AN 'UNTIL DOG.
I'm not an "until you get bored with me' dog.
I'm not an 'until you find a girlfirend' dog.
I'm not an 'until you have a baby' dog.
I'm not an 'until you have to move' dog.
I'm not an 'until you have no time' dog.
I'm A Forever Dog.
If you can't give me forever,
I'm not your dog.
IT'S REALLY THAT SIMPLE."
Here's a little poem I found browsing the internet:
Maybe it will help me, maybe it will encourage her.
When God had made the earth and sky,
The flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
The fish, the birds, and bees.
And when at last He’d finished,
Not one was quite the same.
God said, “I’ll walk this world of mine,
And give each one a name.”
And so He traveled far and wide
And everywhere He went
A little creature followed Him
Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
And in the sky and sea,
A little creature said, “Dear Lord,
There’s not one left for me.”
Kindly the Father said to him,
“I’ve left you to the end,
I’ve turned my name back to front
And call you dog, my friend,”
