Saw (and snaggged) this question that's been floating about on LJ: "What is the first book you remember reading"
I do not know if it was the FIRST book I ever picked up and read, but it is one of the EARLIEST books I've read. Bambi
Because I cannot find that old classic, I am not one-hundred percent sure who wrote it. I think it was Felix Salten, but as It was the child's verision, translated to English, cannot be possitive.
Or maybe it was one of Franklin W. Dixon's The Hardy Boy's Mysteries.
I do like them - still own the books my dad had when he was growing up. And the newer (but not newest) publication-editions he bought for me as I figured out which Hardy Boy books he was missing from his set.
Pretty sure it was not Nancy Drew Mystery stories by Carolyn Keene. I am ninenty-eight percent sure I discovered Nancy Drew after I started Frank And Joe Hardy.
Well, technically, the first books were the Golden Books picture books - the ones a lot of toddlers (and pre kindergardeners) learned to read with. But since I can't recall any of those short-stories, they don't count!
