Rating: K+
Characters: Ratchet
T-Realm: Any/Generation 1
Prompt #1 Scenario: A character finds a perfect replica of himself in his room.

After releasing the twins from medbay, Ratchet sank onto the empty berth.  He leaned back, intending to fall into recharge right then and there.

“What in tarnation?”

Ratchet sat upright and looked for the object that had just poked him in the back.  There it was, a metal, toy-sized replica of himself.

“I knew Sunstreaker paints, but metal working?”  Ratchet examined the very small figurine carefully.  “Impressive details.”  After some scrutiny, the medic carried the small item to his office, placed it in a drawer.  “I’ll return it to its maker the next time I see him,” Ratchet vowed, choosing to be amused by the finding.

Summary: The Ocean does not give up its secrets easily or readily.  Sometimes, those it holds never come back.
Prompt #2 Setting: On board a submarine in an alien sea.

“Seaspray, I didn’t know you could submerge.”

“Well, Spike,” the ocean-patrol boat, said.  “I am a water-based craft, with a solid-working altomode.”

His human passenger snorted.  “On earth, that means the surface is your element, not the hidden world beneath the waves.”

Seaspray chuckled.  “But, we’re not on earth, are we?”

“No - so what marvelous treasures hidden in the Rust Sea did you want to show me?”

Seaspray’s other passenger, Perceptor, spoke up.  “Could you hold position right here?  I am getting some strange readings.”

The blue-and-yellow sub cut power to his engines, but didn’t reduce to ‘idle’ - he needed some power to fight the shifting currents.

While Perceptor analyzed the murky gunk surrounding the underwater boat, Spike peered out the portholes, trying to see something in the hazy liquid.

“Is that a shipwreck over yonder?”  He asked, spotting a gloomy splotch that didn’t fade or move in the current.

“It just might be, Spike.”  Perceptor answered.  “My anomalous readings do indicate something crashed in this vicinity - but not recent.  Seaspray?”

Their sentient submarine took them closer to the unidentified dark blob on the horizon.  The closer they got, the more Spike envisioned them finding a sunken pirate ship, complete with treasures - cargos of gold, pearls and metal coins.

The closer they got, the more details Perceptor could pick out - he quickly became submersed in the readouts documenting how much trace energon, coolants, mercury and other liquid components necessary for Cybertronian life.  He began to think a critical line had corroded to the point of leaking out critical fluids … but how long ago?

The closer they got, the more Seaspray had to fight the shifting current, until finally, “This is all the closer I can get us - it’s getting too dangerous.”

“Mmm,” Perceptor agreed.  “No traces of spark-energy - whatever, whoever it was that fell and sank, it is deactivated now.”

Spike Witiwkcy opened his mouth to protest.  Closed it without uttering a word.  He had promised to abide by the  Autobot’s decision of they’d only let him tag along on this adventure.

Summary:  When leading a rebellion, the first step is to eliminate the leader.   It’s logical sense.
Prompt #3: MasterPrompt List 2011 (29th October: ‘Tank beats ghost.  Tank beats hunter.  Tank beats everything!” Marine, Halo 3)

Megatron could hardly believe it!  His Decepticon troops were outflanking, outfighting, and overwhelming the hated Autobots with minimal loses!  In fact, as the Decepticon warlord watched, his opponents were retreating, leaving this battle site and all its proceeds to their despised foes.

“Decepticons!”   Megatron savored the moment.  “We have won!”

Blitzwing, in the form of his well-armored, single turret weapon, slow-and-ponderous land bound vehicle mode, choose that moment to fire upon Skywarp.

Then, the out-of-control mobile tank aimed and fired at Bruticas, shouting something about beating a hunter.

As Blitzwing turned to attack Megatron, the gladiator moved.

“Tank beats everything!”  Blitzwing shouted, trying to free himself from beneath the ponderous bulk of his leader.  The tank couldn’t - his armor was insufficient to protect his frame from furious, mighty blows delivered by his leader.

“Starscream,” having brutally subdued the triple-changer, Megatron turned towards his Air Commander.  “The next time you want to organize a mutiny against me, wait until after the Autobots defeat us.”

Only the terribly injured Blitzwing, struggling to get to his feet heard the usually treacherous  seeker mutter, “it wasn’t my plan.”

Prompt  #3 “Tank beats ghost.  Tank beats hunter.  Tank beats everything!” 29th October 2011

Soundwave spotted his quarry.  This time, there would be no escape.  “Swindle.”

The named mech cringed.  His gestalt team noticed who was approaching, and abandoned him.

“Soundwave.”  Swindle rubbed his servos together, a nervous habit he’d picked up from the humans.  “What can I do for you? A replacement for - Urp!”

Megatron’s most loyal officer picked up the con-mech/negotiator up by the neck joints.

While Swindle dangled, struggling mightily to not reach for a weapon, his scrambling servos encountered the game system he’d so recently traded to the twinned cassettes.

Satisfied that the return had been grabbed, Soundwave released his grip.

The former prisoner landed with a satisfying thud.  “No more human war games.  Not appropriate entertainment.”

Prompt #4  Jonny Cash Quote

“Cliffjumper, you need to stop fighting with your allies.”

“I’ve seen what happens when mechs stop - I ain’t intending on deactivating while there are still Decepticons around.”

“There is a difference between fighting enemies on the battlefied, and picking unnecessary brawls with the frontliners.”

“Not from where I’m standing, Prowl!”

“Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are not spies, double-agents, enemy troops, Decepticon plants, or other.”

“Wasn’t talking ‘bout them.”

“Then who? - Never mind, I don’t want to know.”

“Red Alert’s got a twin - a Decepticon twin!  And Mirage has a paramour among the Seeekers!”

(“Not this again.”

“Quiet, Mirage, you’re not helping.”)

“You, Prowl have an understanding with Starscream - have you two orchestrated the whole war?  No, wait, that’s Shockwave’s plan.”

“That’s quite enough!”

“But I’m not done!”

“Yes, you are Cliffjumper - no more fighting Autobot troops!  That includes name-calling, any unsubstantiated rumors about various mech’s trustworthiness, or lack of it, their (un)willingness to engage the enemy, on the field or off.”

Prompt #5 Red Sky At Night

When the sun edged towards the horizon, Inferno took one look at the cloud-filled sky, and went berserk.

“FIRE!”  Inferno shouted, searching for the blaze.

He ran towards the campsite Sparkplug had set up with his son.

“Hey!  Inferno!”  Sparkplug coughed as the fire truck doused the small cooking fire with water.

“That was our dinner!”  Spike wailed, trying to rescue the lukewarm food from the cloud of ash and air-born charcoal stirred up by the torrent of water poured on it.

“The forest is on fire!  We have to get you two out of here!”

Turning to track Inferno’s path, Sparkplug needed only to glance at the spectacular sunset.  “There’s no fire.”

“No fire?”  The red truck repeated, trying to understand.

“The forest is not in danger from flames.”

“But the sky is red!  Flames are red!  Something far off must be burning - molten hot metal.”  Inferno protested.

“That’s just light reflected from the sun - we humans see red skies at night on a fairly regular basis.  It means nothing.”

“Except maybe a stormy morning,” Spike poked at his uneditable food, morosely.

“Now, Rumble, I need you and your twin to-“

“Skywarp, our hands are tied - bosses order.”

“Huh?  Megatron’s never condoned my pranks before.”

“Not Megatron.  Soundwave.  Said no helping - and this, is helping.”

“Come on, just a little bit?  No one will ever have to know.”

“The boss always knows.”

“Yeah, you’re on your own for this one.”

~ elsewhere ~

“Do you think Astrotrain needs a hand?”

“What for?  He’s already collected two in addition to the ones attached to his frame.”

“It’s a serious question.”

“And I’ll give it a serious answer.”  The sounds of clapping hands.

“Wrong type of hand.”

“You want to get closer?”

“Well, no, but-“

“Then, let him get himself out of the swamp without our assistance.  He’s got a jet mode.”
