I enjoy seeing (and experiencing from the safty of home) all types of weather.
(note: this means the area I live in does not get the really violent events that devestate entire cities)
Storms, rain, wind, fog (not so much), cloudy, and calm or clear days.
I love them all.
Got to see some lightning strike very early this morning.
Was up outside about 5 am - (couldn't sleep, stepped out for a bit, hoping the cold air would either wake me or lull me into sleep) - and while it was too dark to see the clouds overhead, I did see some brief flashes of light from the corner of my eye.
So, instead of heading inside as soon as I could, I turned full-faced towards the area that was briefly illuminated. And waited.
My patience was eventually paid off.
Saw lightning strike not once, not twice, but nine times. Seven of the strikes were cloud-to-cloud. One looked like it might have been cloud-to-ground. The last was a double-hit. (meaning, before the light faded, another burst illuminated the clouds).
Didn't get any rain. Too bad. The area needs it.
Didn't hear any thunder - that's fine. The small system looked far off (and fairly high up too!).
And the storm system was moving away.
No idea if the lightining was DRY lightning, or accompanined a mild (meaning, very light soak) rainfall.
Regardless: it was cool to see.
