Saying Good-bye to 2011

Dec 28, 2011 14:13

End-of-year meme borrowed/stolen from cloverdew and pasted: I obviously did the first couple of sentences so that I could get a feel for the entry/month rather than just the snapshot of the first. I also didn't count meme entries, so in a couple of months I had the skip the actual first entry and go one or two into the month.

January
Usually at the beginning of the month I re-organize my bookshelf to move books I've just read to the back to make room for the books I need/want to read closer to the front so I don't have to dig too far. I did this last night and began working on a list of books/book series I wanted to read over the next year. I have a fairly decent sized list, but would love recommendations. I began reading the Hunger games series and Jasper Fforde on recs, so I thought I'd ask all of you lovely people for some ideas.

Bridal Lunch/shower: Two weeks ago, had a great time seeing family and friends...my fav 2nd cousin is about to pop so I can't wait to hear the news of the birth of the baby girl which I believe will be Abby! Trip to OH was nice except I returned home with a sinus cold...eww!

April
So before I begin my massive and totally belated update, I have to let you all know about my day first. Got on the train after work and my wallet fell out of my pocket. Of course, I didn't notice it was missing until I got off the train. Hoping/praying/wishing that it was picked up and turned in...so far no such luck, but I'm going to call the Lost and Found tomorrow morning. In the meantime, all the cards have a hold on them. So, not a huge crisis, but a small one which only got worse when I got home and the front door slammed into my temple. My head pounds as I write this, but I promised to post.

In case you all missed the memo........I got married!!!

June
I just realized it's been awhile since I updated this journal with anything other than fun little memes, mostly because I haven't had much to say.

July
Changed my journal header in honor of Camp NaNo which starts today.

Haven't written anything yet bc I'm nursing a hangover, but I plan on writing on my lunch break :)

August
For those of you on my flist who write, either for pleasure or for the desire to become published, I have a question. Earlier today, I got it in my head that I wanted to start a writing prompt/advice blog. Just something to help get the creative juices flowing and some advice that I've found to be helpful or useful. Now, I don't have a platform or a name or really anything other than an idea. pasted suggested I go with Tumblr for the platform, but I'm up for suggestions.

December
I have been working towards publishing one of my novels and based on what I've heard/read/seen I've come to the conclusion that my query letter sucks. It is possibly the worse thing ever written...even worse than the first draft of my first NaNo. That being said, I'd really love your opinion on the mini-synopsis/back cover/jacket flap part of my letter. I have four versions below the cut if you have time to read and let me know what you think, I'd really appreciate it.

I have to admit; I was no where near diligent when it came to posting in my LJ. Majority of my posts were memes, which while incredibly fun, doesn't say too much about what went on in my life over the year.

For a brief/quick rundown: in 2011, I...

Got married
Changed my name
Wrote two novels
Got a passport
Went out of the country for the first time for my honeymoon
Fed a turtle
Attended a wine tasting
Got a promotion

Not bad :)
