Before I go on leave I have a project I would like to complete. I want to install bookshelves on my bedroom wall. Yes, I have noticed that for some reason I always seem to want to take on these projects a few weeks before surgery. I’ll analyze that another day.
Anyway I went pricing for the wall mounts and brackets and decided on the details of the size and how many and all that. I want adjustable (hence the mounts) for versatility and if I get 48 in mounts and 4 of the 12x48 inch shelves I will have exactly 18 inches of open space in all directions before I hit the window, ceiling, chair rail height ledge, etc.
My only concern is that I’ve never done it before. Logically I know how it should work, but will it work that way remains to be seen. Should I have three mounting rails and 3 brackets per shelf or is 2 and 2 sufficient? I see no lip type thing at the end of the bracket so how do you keep the shelf from sliding forward (and thereby off) once mounted? Is there something else special I have to buy for the brackets to keep them secure?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
