Well, we weren't even out of the driveway of our house and I discovered that Bee had made himself at home in my backpack.
With Bee keeping an eye out for Decepticons, we headed out!
We arrived in Mishawaka, where my little brother lives. We met him at the Wal*Mart where he works in South Bend, and he gave us the keys to his apartment so we could crash there for the night. In the morning, we headed out to Chicago, stopping by a Wendy's to get lunch. After a couple of hours driving and dealing with the annoying toll road (and being amused at a McDonald's situated smack dab in the middle of the highway), we arrived in Chicago.
We went to the Science and Industry Museum, to see the Body Works exhibit. Now, this exhibit is WEIRD. I have no idea how they managed to perserve the entire circulatory system and nervous system (and JUST those systems; how they got every vessel, capillary, nerve, etc. out of the body was beyond me) but seeing them was pretty cool. I did notice that most of the bodies they had on display were male, which is kind of weird...hardly any females....I wonder why? Anyway, it was pretty cool.
After we were done with that exhibit we browsed around the rest of the museum. And, of course, my Altocelarophobia kicks in during our time in the weather exhibit. Gah, I HATE that...I mean, I can usually control it but it got so bad I was simply staring at the floor and holding my mom's arm the entire time we were in that part of the museum. I wish I didn't suffer from it, but, eh. I can usually keep it at bay so it's something I can live with even though it still flares up badly at times.
We also got to see a glasses-free 3D TV in one area, but I thought the picture looked to blurry for it to be any good quality of 3D movie viewing.
Anyway, we stayed until the museum closed. I spent the last half hour or so in the gift shop, picking out rocks (which I collect) and having a conversation about Pokémon with some random little kid. He saw I had a Pikachu shirt on, and he was all excited that he found someone else who liked Pokémon (he was probably surprised that a non-kid liked it). He went on and on about the awesomeness of Reshiram and Zekrom. It was really cute. Man, I don't really like dealing with kids (I have patience issues), but I'm really good with them. Why is that? I dunno.
After we left, we went to a little Chicago Pizza place. I'm not a fan of deep dish pizza at all, so I just got a salad and some pasta, which was yummy.
There was also a ginormous poster of Optimus Prime on one of the buildings downtown, but sadly I didn't get a picture of it as we were driving by at the time and couldn't stop.
After that we went to the hotel we were staying at that night. We spent the rest of the night watching episodes of River Monsters until we went to bed.
In the morning, Bee kept watch for Decepticons while we got our stuff ready to go
.
Then we headed back to Mishawaka so my brother could get to work. We hung out in his apartment for a while, then we went to the restaurant where he works to eat supper. He works at a create-your-own stir fry restaurant. It was really yummy, and I was able to eat an ENTIRE MEAL (sans drink, of course) with chopsticks. Which is an achievement for me because until about six months ago I couldn't eat with them AT ALL, and after that I was still mostly fail with them even if I could at least get some food into my mouth. :P
After that, we went home, and Bee had an idea that I got behind completely-sleep time!
My most awesome gets from the trip, save the rocks, eyeball pen, cold virus plushie and the freeze-dried ice cream sandwich from the Science and Industry museum?
The first season of Beast Wars on DVD and the Transformers: Vault book (which is SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME).
Until Next Time,
Cheers. ~♪
