It's been a busy week

I've spent a lot of this week preparing for the interview, which finally happened yesterday. I didn't bomb but I didn't shine, either. Which is really frustrating because I know I could do that job standing on my head. It literally would build on EVERYTHING that I've done in my career so far. On the other hand, it's a fixed term contact and I really want a permanent post. A lot of answers I talked around what the wanted and others I was just sooo wide of the mark. Questions where I really had lots to say I didn't say enough, and then I waffled in others for far too long. I need to learn the politicians' trick of answering the question I wanted them to ask, because when I try to answer the question they did ask I get lost. It's that wood v trees thing again... But it was good practice and I know where the gaps are.

The process started with a 'task' to write a marketing plan for a rebrand of the service. I had half an hour to do it in and did it in about 25 minutes. Then there was my presentation, which went pretty well. They had no questions about either of those, so either they were spot on or so wide of the mark there was nothing to salvage! I'm going with the former :D

Lessons? I'm great at written stuff and OK on verbal where I'm presenting. Where I'm asking my brain to pull relevant stuff up on the fly - not so much.

I'm also seriously considering looking at freelance writing as a way of making money. And there's always the PhD/teaching thing.

In FFX-2 news, I've just been to Level 20 of the Via Infinito (which apparently I have to complete?!) for the two Crimson Spheres. I can now go back to Mushroom Rock Road and do the Den of Woe. Yay... As far as I can tell, I'm on track for the 100%. I'm almost past caring... Anyway, I will do everything else and then go back to the Via Whatsit when I have my Mascot Dresspheres.

In Mannerley news, I am planning to get back on the horse this week. I'm waiting to hear if one of my Betas is going to be able to comment. If not, I'll just go ahead with what I know needs doing.

Jewel Staite turned up on Castle this week. Only two more episodes. Still waiting to see how they kill Kate off. They have to kill her off if Stanic is leaving the show. I know the thing is called 'Castle' but she is just so much part of it. It would be really odd for her not to be part of it.

And Quantico is keeping me interested. Simon in particular is a very interesting character. Not hero but not villain. Very human.

I'm watching Legend of Dragoon on YouTube and rediscovering just how deep that story is. Lloyd makes a very satisfying enemy because, again, there is that conflict between 'he's the bad guy' but 'he saved Wink more than once'. And the story all hangs together unlike some other games I could mention *looks very hard at FF8*

There are some really good deals coming up on the PS4. Most of them include the Uncharted series, which is a shame because they just aren't my kind of game - aiming AND shooting, running AND having to time the run, just NO! I'm just going to find the best deal when I've finished FFX-2 and buy the damned thing.

OK, I have stuff to do. Bye for now, LJ.

earning a living, legend of dragoon, interviews, mannerley, nostalgia, ps4, writing, ffx-2, interesting trees
