Happiness is...
- listening to my 'love' playlist on Spotify
- being back on the student trail
- being indoors when it's cold outside
I had hoped to get a couple of chapters of 'Holding...' done over Christmas on my dinky new netbook but since that only arrived yesterday, writing didn't happen. I doubt I'll do any before the summer, now, which is a real shame. Still I have plenty of other things to occupy my time :p
I'm just coming to the end of reading the Chronicles ofNarnia alongside Planet Narnia. Planet Narnia is making more sense this time round - whereas I thought he was just rambling vaguely about Lewis' treatment of the planets in his other works, now I see he's trying to put forward a body of knowledge and use that culminated in CoN. And I think I'm convinced he's right - the 7 Chronicles do align with the 7 planets and each one makes use of imagery and language appropriate to the relevant planet. The Christian stuff is in there, of course, but that really isn't the message they are trying to convey. Whatever, it gives me a whole extra layer of enjoyment when I next read them.
So, two lectures tonight, one on business strategy and one on ethics. I'm supposed to include a reflection on my learning in the assignments for both so I'm going to keep notes in here so I have something to look back on.
Strategy
Well, St Bride's does 'do' strategy although we don't really call it that - not in so many words, anyway. So, I expect there's stuff to learn on how to be a bit more organised about it and to formalise it to the extent of naming it.
Ethics
A brief overview of the subject with lots of student participation, tonight. The garbage patches in the Pacific Ocean made my jaw drop. The Shell bloke really was something else - how can anyone be so blind to their responsibility? Not that it is his job to do everything, but still...
