Good news
Passed my Philosophy exam yesterday. It wasn't too hard. I just had to chat with three professors about some books that two of them probably haven't read. I managed to get up early enough and not embarrass myself, so I got a good grade. One down, two to go. I think the Math exam might be graded a little more harshly, but the assigned material seems pretty easy to me so far (Seriously, I've taught classes on most of that stuff. What the hell?). The defense is usually just a formality.
Later that day I found out that one of the two reviews has already arrived. They won't let me read it until they've got both, but they did tell me it's positive. No surprise here. The guy liked my talk at the confernce last summer and seemed pretty impressed when I showed off my results at his seminar a few weeks ago. But it's good to hear I've already got a review. Now I just need to wait for the other one.
