So Dad sent an email to prof. T. I've been telling him not to do anything stupid, but eventually he decided to do it anyway. It's not too bad. He just told him he had read my dissertation and suggested some minor edits, but it should be fine when those are finished. The professor had asked him to read it before and then he had asked him to read it again, so I guess it's ok. Anyway, the results are... weird.
The professor has suddenly decided that we must make it in time for the next council meeting. Which is still on July 7th. He's telling me I need to hurry. He spent half an hour telling me that. He claims that I'm working too slowly. Also, he says we absolutely must meet tomorrow, but he has no idea if he will even have time.
Well... I guess I might as well see how far this sudden enthusiasm can get me. So, once again, Plan B is postponed until the end of the month. I guess.
Meanwhile, a professor from America has suggested that if this goes on for too long I could just finish my phd at his university instead. He seems to really like the quantum part, so I kinda suspect that he'd like to be my backup advisor so that people will think he knows more about this stuff than he actually does. or maybe because that would be an opportunity to learn. I said that I wouldn't do it - yet. If it looks like I came to his university because I'm not good enough to get my phd here, it won't be good for me or for the university. Maybe in a few years, when everyone whose opinion matters knows that I am, in fact, good enough, we can try this. Or maybe a miracle will happen and it will be over in just a few months.
But whatever happens next, this will always have happened as well. I will always have received such an offer and I will always have declined.
thing that could have happened to anyone,
school,
science!
