What's in a name?
So once again I am entering grades into the system and once again it's unnecessarily complicated. For one thing the system seems to have been "improved" which, as usual, means it isn't any better or easier to use than it was before, but it is completely different. Also, there's this one student.
I couldn't find her name on the list. I did find another name, which I had never seen before, but which, when it finally occurred to me to try reading it out loud, turned out to sound very similar to her name. But the spelling was totally different. Eventually, after locating the Dean's Office which has been temporarily moved for renovation, I managed to confirm that this is, in fact, the same person. Turns out the name's Belorussian and originally written in a different alphabet. And they can't agree on a transliteration. *sigh*
