They're still up there.

I awoke, once again, to the sound of... well, it sounded a lot like a dentist's drill, except nothing has teeth large enough to justify the existence of a drill this big. I pulled the covers over my head and, if it's at all possible to sleep defiantly, then that's exactly what I did. For about five minutes, after which I was woken up again, this time by some sort of crash. I tried again. And again. It just wasn't going to work, was it?
I have no idea what they are still doing up there. I know that there is only one piece of wall left in there and if they try doing anything to it, the roof is likely to come crashing down on all of us. Perhaps I should pack in case I need to leave this place in a hurry? The noise has been going on for nearly seven hours now and seems to be coming from exactly above my head, no matter which room I happen to be in. It's like having my own personal raincloud, except louder and, of course, clouds don't usually threaten to rain bricks. I actually panicked a little when I heard them shout something to each other about the pipes. The faulty plumbing*  was apparently the cause of the last time they made a hole in our ceiling and this time I was almost sure I was standing under a pipe**.
Still, I'm not leaving. You can't make me.

* The incompetent plumbers came of nowehre a few years ago, did strange things to everyone's bathrooms and disappeared, possibly leaving the job unfinished, but noone's really sure.
** Of course, I couldn't be entirely sure, since, again thanks to the plumbers, water in this building moves in mysterious ways. I am not too eager to find out exactly what those ways are. I use the water to make my tea and might be happier not knowing where it's been.
