I'm so glad you liked it! I think it's pretty obvious that I'm a Dean!girl all the way, so when seeing After School Special, I was a little disheartened with where they took his character and how much they focused on Sam. Though, taking it as a canon, I definitely see that school as one of the breaking points for Dean -- not being appreciated for what he does, being humiliated in front of everyone. It's why I find it so believable that if Dean were at the center of an investigation, he wouldn't return and milk it for all it's worth; he'd act as though it hadn't happened, and then take it upon himself to fix it. Because why else would Dean be the one to get rid of the ghost, and not John?

And also, here's this moment for Dean to explain himself to someone. To see their gratitude and know he's earned it. But again -- after the school in After School Special, he's a little more hardened. He doesn't need that. So he sends her home without having a serious talk, and he leaves before she can thank him. He doesn't need her thanks to know it was the right thing to do.
