Link List 7aug12: Dates to iCal, Mars Landing, Saint Johns Murder
- Palm OS and Palm apps were in many ways superior to their modern iOS counterparts, and one of those was the simple way that the calendar in Palm Desktop (nee Claris Organizer) would automatically display birthdays with the age included, letting me know (for example) that this August would have been my great grandmother's 103rd birthday and my youngest brother's 41st. A lovely little £4 shareware app called Dates to iCal can now restore this and more, working with Mac OS Address Book and iCal. Get it at http://www.nhoj.co.uk/datestoical
- Saddened to read the story of Thelma Taylor this morning, a poor white girl abducted and killed under the Saint Johns Bridge on her way to pick beans back in as per http://home.comcast.net/~hmb01/ghosts/cathedral.htm. The killer kept her overnight and killed her in the morning, to be executed in the gas chamber after an unsuccessful appeal at http://174.123.24.242/leagle/xmlResult.aspx?xmldoc=1951788190Or598_1749.xml&docbase=CSLWAR1-1950-1985. Reading this I am reminded that the criminal justice system can occasionally work, although now it mostly sucks in too much material and so fails
