A Zinc Lozenge, A Nickel, And A Wish

Nicotine did an unfortunately nice job of bringing friends together this weekend. Thursday afternoon I took a casual glance out front door of Allen Hall when I was grabbing my Tribune & my DI. Yelena & Julia were out on the porch so I figured I’d head out there.

There was circular logic afoot. Going out to smoke offered an excuse to hang out with Yelena and Julia. Hanging out with Yelena and Julia was also an excuse to smoke. So I took out a clove and offered one to Yelena. (not surprizingly I met Yelena about two months ago while smoking a clove on the porch) The three of us talked for a little while and long story short we ended up going to Jazz Night at Zorbas together. A really great concert and a great time. I realized that a pipe is not a great way to smoke and that I need to switch to something a little less harsh/ stop using smoking as a way to talk to people (but *shrug* it kinda works)

Friday was Jorge’s birthday party. Not that he invited me but that doesn’t really bother me because we don’t really hang out. What bothered me is that he came back at like 3AM Saturday morning, saw that I was sleeping, still turned on the light and proceeded to attempt to drink in the room with some kids. I could only pretend to be asleep for so long. I mean we live in an 11 by 12 room, and some of us were volunteering the next morning at…

The Illinois Green Party State Membership Meeting which came to campus Friday through Sunday in a blur of progressive politics and awesomeness (which was represented by Tom’s green star.) But the Green part of the weekend is a story for a different post.

Sunday, was breakfast with Liz and Famous Dave, all in all a great time that left me a hell of a lot of work come Sunday afternoon.

Which I guess I should get back to.
