Back from Ireland.
Here's an impression:
The old Titanic drydock in Belfast. There was a Titanic trail that you could follow, but it was very disappointing really. Most of the sights were off limits or under maintenance, but this made up for it. Check out the lifting truck at the bottom (right) to get a sense of scale.
The Giants Steps in the northern part of Ireland. These rocks are pushed out of the ground and have a "perfect" 6-sided shape. Apparently you have them in Scotland as well, but I've seen them in Iceland for sure.
(London)Derry, the place where Bloody Sunday took place. It's actually my favourite place of the cities/villages we visited. It still has its entire village wall that used to protect the place in the old days and you can still walk on it all around the city centre! But it also has catholic and protestant neighbourhoods were tension is still felt (which we also noticed in Belfast in an even more serious degree).
A national park we visited, about one hour drive from Derry. I took this picture "Ruben style" (okay, that's an inside joke there) XD.
The Aran Islands, we spent a day visiting the largest island of the three. There were some church ruins to be found, and I couldn't resist taking this picture. Also I adore the Celtic cross.
An old set of armour found in Bunratty Castle. The castle is restored quite nicely to its original state, but still it was a bit of a letdown in the end (it's really hyped in all the guides, so expectations were high).
This was in Waterford. What can I say, it's Ireland, so there's Guinness to be found.
Killer moths in Galway. There was a lot of water to be found in this city, and these moths (or whatever they were) were swarming the place. It was annoying, freaky and awesome all at once.
Some scenery close to Killarney. We rented bikes here and really had a blast riding all day across this area.
Overall I had a blast in Ireland, but I had a pretty tough time there unfortunately. Because we hadn't planned a lot really there was some significant stress which made my mind spin out of control more often than I had hoped. Now that I'm home again and I feel like I can relax again things are better again, but it definitely ruined my trip a bit. The other side is that I'm really glad I went because I've seen some amazing things there.
Lol, I also saw the Book of Kells there.. I didn't even know what it was when I got there, shame on me I guess. XD
And the library of Trinity College in Dublin is bloody amazing, I really stood there in awe for some time.
