“Hello?” Amy walked through the dark as she saw the Doctor’s familiar figure. Her face lowered, as he didn’t turn around “I’m sorry, about saying you weren’t the real Doctor… It’s just” she paused and walked up to him. No light touched his face, and his stance was stiff, as he breathed softly. Amy stood behind him, his shadow casting over her “Can you die? I mean if you’re him, you can die… I might have seen that happen” flashes of the lake came back to her. The gunshot, and the Doctor’s never-ending fall to the golden sand. She could see his face as it looked up at hers; his last moments, she suddenly shuddered she blinked the thoughts away.
The Doctor looked down as his eyes shut “Why” he muttered.
Amy laughed “Why? Because you invited us”
The Doctor glanced over at her and frowned. His teeth gritting as he pushed her onto the cold brick wall “Why! Why does it have to be like this? After everything you still pick him!” he yelled as he dug his hands into Amy’s shoulders.
Tears shot into Amy’s eyes as the Doctor’s fingers slowly sunk into her “Doctor you’re hurting me!” she screamed as she tried to break free. He fingers were like claws as they seeped through Amy’s skin, his eyes dark and menacing. The Doctor had hurt people before, manipulated people into killing themselves, and now he was hurting his Amelia.
The Doctor pushed himself closer to her “You don’t know how much you hurt me! Every time you choose him you don’t know how I feel, everyday you kiss him I have to sit there and pretend I don’t love you and I’m sick of it. Amy, please don’t” his hands shook her shoulders as she stared into his face. The Doctor, her raggedy Doctor, her imaginary friend was taking everything she thought she knew about him and twisting it. She thought he was her best friend, but now she wasn’t sure “Someday you’ll leave me and I’ll still be here and I’ll regret never telling you how I feel. Amy, please. Please” His grip tightened and his eyes started to tear up “If I have to get rid of him. Then I will”
Amy shook his hands of her shoulders and out of their tight grasp and stared in fear at her hero, the man she thought would always be out to protect her “I thought I could trust you!” she cried as she stormed out of the room. The Doctor’s face stared at the empty space in front of him. She’d be so close, and he’d just let everything fall apart. But at least he knew it was going to end soon, he was going to die, and he didn’t care.
Amy stormed into through the doors and walked up to the ‘real’ Doctor “We can’t trust him! He’s flesh, he’s not you, and he can never be you!”
The ‘other’ Doctor ran into to the room and stood at the door “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you”
Amy backed away from him “You’re not him, not ever!” she cried
The ‘real’ Doctor held onto Amy’s hand as tears streaked her pale fragile face “Amy, don’t cry. Crying won’t fix anything” he placed a hand on her cheek as she shut her eyes.
“He has your thoughts… Doctor, do you… Do you want me to choose you, instead of Rory?” she said as she held onto his hand.
The ‘real’ Doctor looked over at the ‘other’ Doctor “Amy, you have to trust him… Can you do that for me?” he smiled as he placed his hand on her arm.
Amy shook his head “How am I supposed to trust him?”
The Doctor frowned “He’s me, Amy, and I’m him. If you trust me, you trust him”
-Three Hours Later-
Amy ran down the corridor, holding onto the Doctor’s hand as she did. The pair spun around corners till they hit a large metal door. The Doctor sighed and panted as he rested his back on the door, while the ‘other’ Doctor was off looking for Rory. He needed to tell her the truth; the lie was playing with his head and he was starting to believe it. The Doctor stopped in his tracks and Amy spun around and frowned “Doctor?” she said her eyebrow rising
He opened his mouth to speak, but the words couldn’t come out, he knew it would hurt her. His eyes peered into hers as he tried to find the words “Amy… I lied to you… I’m the ganger”
Amy stared at him, her expression blank “You can’t be, no, you can’t be the fake” she examined the Doctor as he looked at her. He couldn’t be the fake, she knew him, and the other Doctor wasn’t him. She thought she knew him, she thought she knew everything about him, she thought there was no secrets but she was wrong “But the Doctor… He did all those things… He can’t be the real one”
The ganger Doctor frowned “I’m sorry” the pair stood still until they heard a loud scream come from one of the nearby hallways. They spun around and ran again, not sure what they were doing, or what was going to happen. Their hands didn’t touch now, the feeling almost wrong, the sense that he was the fake had changed her perspective on the Doctor. She didn’t know whom to trust.
All the winding corridors started to look the same, their hard cold falls all feeling the same under Amy’s feet. They turned a corner, and another one, and another one until the stopped. A body was convulsing on the cold floor, a pool of acid underneath it. Amy knelt down to the body “Doctor” she murmured.
The Doctor’s body shook as the acid sunk into his skin “Amy, I’m sorry,” he whispered as he violently shook and gasped.
Amy looked over at the ganger Doctor, tears pouring out of her eyes “Can’t you do something?” she yelled as she watched the Doctor sinking into the liquid.
The ganger Doctor frowned “It’s gotten to his hearts, I can’t do anything… I’m part of him, Amy, I’m going to have to go too”
She shook her head “No, we have to do something!” she cried as the Doctor’s arms and legs were covered in the liquid.
She couldn’t let him go, not either of them, and now she was losing everything. The ganger Doctor held his chest as he fell to the ground “Amelia, you have to stay brave for me okay”
His eyes were black and huge, his hands twitching in and out. He didn’t care that he was dying, he didn’t care about the pain raging through him, he just wanted Amy safe and he would do everything he possibly could to make her forgive him “Amy… I don’t… I don’t have any excuse for hurting you, I just…” he took a deep breath through his clenched teeth “It’s my last chance to say it… Amelia Pond…” his body froze as he gasped again. This time he didn’t move again, he didn’t talk again. He was gone. His body dissolved into nothingness, his eyes the last to go. They lay with all the pain in which had filled his life, all those years and they were left in those black eyes.
“I forgive you…”
