enjoy your trip

I have to respectfully disagree with Mischa, who liked "Planet of the Apes."

I did not like it. I thought it was dumb and lame and that the symbolism/metaphor was too obvious and it hurt my head when I was continually hit with it over and over. I needed one of those KKK pointy helmets like the Bad!Apes wore, to protect me from the KKK/racism metaphor.

I never saw the original "Planet of the Apes," although I did enjoy seeing "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" when I was eight, in London, with a friend of my dad's and the guy's kids. I think I just enjoyed it because I was getting to hang out with someone else's family, and the guy's name was Jimmy James. Which even then struck me as funny. But in that movie, if I remember it at all, I think it was that we were supposed to be rooting for the apes. In the one I saw tonight, I really didn't root for anybody. I rooted for it to be over, because my friend Leslie was sitting next to me hating life because yet again I dragged her to a bad movie. Although, I had enjoyed the trailer just fine, and I've seen a few reviews and nobody seemed to hate it, and Leslie didn't put up any fight at all about it, so I assumed she was fine with seeing it.

So.

If you go for the camp value, you'll enjoy it, perhaps.

I'm sure I have more to say. There has been Disneyland, and hanging out with Syntax and Josie and Trix, and Trix's Buffy/Angel friend Kat. There was terrible driving bad luck on the way home from Orange County. What's up with the 5 freeway just going down lane by lane, pylon by pylon, with no notice, until you are spit onto the 91 freeway, which, by the way, you have no knowledge of? What is that about?? I mean, it was one a.m., we were heading for Compton, we had no Orange County Thomas Guide, and there was no freeway detour -- just "Oh, you're on the 91 now. Enjoy your trip." I was in a mood, lemme tell you. A mood that involved driving 100 miles per hour with the top down and not much sense of where I was going, and it's a good thing that Trix is game for that sort of thing. A lesser person might have freaked out. But we realized we were heading west, and after 20 or so minutes, ended up hitting the 5 freeway. I have no idea how this happened, but it was of the good.

I need to buy cat litter. That crystal litter, it seems like a good idea, but it says it lasts 12-15 days with 2 cats. Um, NO. Try, say, 3 days before it stinks. If that. In any case, I'm out of it.

I bought something on eBay and then realized too late that the seller only accepts money orders. What a pain in my ass. Get PayPal, or Billpoint. It's 2001. But hey. You can never have too many "Emergency" lunchboxes. Squad 51 and all that.

::wonders if there's anything more I feel the need to bitch about::

I think that's it for now. My bed is comfortable and I'm going to go check that out.

cats, movies, disneyland, trix, planet of the apes
