Update from Wes' world

I haven't had time to do much of anything for myself lately. I've helped Mary & Tim move to Doraville. This included moving all my shit here. Remember the fire hydrant? Remember the school-bus sized toolbox? Man! It's been a workout!

Meanwhile that Flintstones-era computer at work finally gave out. I-told-you-sos are no good now. We're dispatching from 3x5 cards. We sent the computer to California, to the manufacturer, to see if our data is retrievable. Hopefully they can get all our shit from the "backup" tapes that I made everyday with a program I don't understand and can't read or verify. If not, we lose everything. Accounts receivables, payroll info, etc. all gone. It's not like I didn't warn Bryan. I told him a year ago that the server was past it's life expectancy. A month ago I saw the signs and predicted that it was a matter of weeks. Last week I said, "Do you hear the computer? It's now a matter of days, if not hours." -That's an actual quote!!- Hell, I did a fucking countdown!!! Once it failed, I never said a word, but worked diligently to keep operations going. We'll see how it goes...

The good thing about all of this is closure. In both the move and the (completely avoidable) computer disaster, the outcome will eliminate the problem. Regarding the move, I have my whole life here in my little apartment. I can now organize, utilize and eliminate everything about me as I see fit -for the first time in my life-. Regarding the computer, well, I'd say it's an SEP at this point. (someone else's problem) I'd like to get the computer back with an upgrade I can understand and all our precious data retained. If not, It'll cost Bryan a lot of money, not me. I have earned credibility at least.

I got a fortune cookie recently. It contained the best fortune I've ever gotten: "You will see past the illusion to the plain truth."
