Now to spice things up:
These are rules that you can pick or chose from to make the game harder and thus funner.
1. When changing the suit with a card of similar face value you can lay down multiple cards.
ie. lay 2-3 fives on top of the existing 5.
2. If players can't go instead of picking up one card they could pick up until they can play a card
3. There is a last card rule in which if players do not announce that they only have on card left they must pick up one card when they go out.
Now we start giving “powers” to other cards. Things can get a little more heck-tick with these rules
4. If a player plays a 2 the next player must pick up 2 cards.
If that player lays down another 2 then the next player must pick up 4 cards.
It is usually played that each card adds 2 cards until a max of eight cards are picked up. The 2's must be played consecutively.
4A. You can play so that there is no maximum that someone will
pick up but be warned that you will run out of deck to pick up very quickly.
Also some people play that a player can only lay down one two per turn, but awesome people save all the twos and lay them down all at once.
5.Jacks can be used to skip the next players turn. *note* you can use more then one jack at a time
6.Kings can be used to reverse the order of play from clockwise to counter-clockwise and back again.
*note* I like to use them in pairs, just to psych people out.
7. Some people like to chose a queen of one suit and assign a five
card pickup value to it. This enables it to be used as a 2. It is your choice of course if you want to allow it to add onto the two pickups.
Now that you have played a bit, at least I'm assuming you have, you can make things even crazy-er.
If you have a lot of time to kill (or you're just that intense) you should play crazy eights countdown. Yes countdown, it is played just like the regular game. You can mix whatever rules you like in there but once one person goes out they pick up another hand minus 1. ie. 8 card hand- 7 card hand- 6 card hand and so on until they have a one card hand and go out. Also your “crazy” card will always match your hand. Crazy 7's, crazy 6's and so on.
This is for the most intense, most awesome players of the game CRAZY EIGHTS COUNTDOWN....AND BACK UP! Same rules as before except once you go out after your one card hand you work your way up to an eight card hand and go out.
