I got the job I wanted!
It pays $8 an hour, is only a few miles from my apartment, I'd get every major holiday off (12 a year, including a "floating holiday" which I can take whenever), including my birthday! (My birthday falls on a Saturday, so I can choose to have the Friday before or the Monday after off). I'll be working Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm, with chance of some overtime. For the first few months, the center I'll be working at has almost no dress code, so I can wear blue jeans and a sweatshirt if I want. After that, business casual (no shorts, denim, or tennis shoes). I'll be processing insurance claims for a well-known company. The company that I'm going to be working for has contracts with many other companies, which means I'll get discounts for places like Barnes and Noble, Continental Airlines, and GM/Saturn/Hummer! Add the full benefits I get from day one (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k) and three weeks paid vacation, and I think I can make a career out of this.
