Good Omens

Just finished reading it about 45 minutes ago.

Would you believe that this is the first thing I've read by Neil Gaiman. And, interestingly enough, also the first thing I've read by Terry Pratchett. I've been meaning to check out the Sandman series for a few years now...just haven't got around to it yet.

Anyway, this book is amazing. The humor is spot-frickin-on. The writing and story are so damn engaging, I didn't want to do anything other than read - I didn't even want to 'waste time' eating or sleeping. The characters are so endearing; even characters I started out not liking (and who did things that I REALLY didn't like) by the end, I had some sort of bizarre affection for them. What compelling story-telling from Gaiman and Pratchett.

But, as a slash fan, I think everyone who's read the book knows what I liked best about it.

*dreamy sigh* Aziraphale and Crowley.

Seriously. My OTP list is getting updated again. And I'm wondering if there's a place I can find some A/C icons. I have so many OTP icons, what's a another one (or another couple) going to hurt?

But the only way that those guy's relationship could've been any more perfect is if they had actually, y'know, BEEN together. Some might say they already are. The next logical step for me? Fanwork, of course. It's always the same when I find something worth shipping. In fact, I've already read a couple fics - both could be summed up with one word: DYNAMITE.

I could barely put this book down. Ever have a book/TV show that you HAVE to stop reading/watching for some reason (like you need to get back to work, or go to sleep, or something), and you scream in frustration, because all you can think about is what's going on in the story, work be damned? That was me today.

I'm a bit disappointed that Gaiman and Pratchett didn't collaborate more. Especially on a sequel. It doesn't have to be anything super fancy. Heck, even just a 100 to 200 page story about what sort of hijinks Aziraphale and Crowley have gotten up to would be great. No, scratch that, that book would be FABULOUS in more ways than one!

This entry kind of got away from me. I'll try to quit before I have a novella.

Good Omens is an incredible book. Engrossing as all hell. If you're one of the few slash fans who hasn't read it - buy it. Or even check it out from the library. Save yourself some time though - I'm positive you're gonna want it for your collection ^_^
