First, the bad news.
Justice O'Connor has announced her resignation from the US Supreme Court. Fuck. I know that's going to get very ugly. I was really hoping the Shrub wouldn't have the opportunity to pick anyone on the Supreme Court, but I guess with an eight year reign it was inevitable.
Canada is looking better and better, especially given
recent developments.
Happy Canada day, by the way!
The good news is something totally selfish. I got a letter from the IRS today. My first thought was oh fuck, I screwed it up. But it ends up that I might qualify for an Earned Income Credit (EIC). I thought that I had to have a kid to get that, but apparently (according to this notice) I don't. Sweet! So I've got a form to return to them, and they'll send me a refund (if I'm due one) sometime in the next eight weeks. If this goes thru, then it means another form on this year's taxes, but hey, if it means I don't end up paying so much tax on my speaking gig income, I'll do it. That would rock!
In other news, I've been feeling pretty lethargic all week, and woke up this morning with a sore throat. It eventually went away, after I took some vitamin C and had some protein shake, but my throat is typically where it shows up first when I'm coming down with something. I hope I'm not, though it would be consistent, given that I've got bloodwork scheduled for next Wednesday, and it's also SUN study bloodwork, so they'll be taking 8 gallons a lot of blood. I started feeling run down at the beginning of the week, and figured getting a B12 shot on Tuesday would help perk me up, but if anything I've been even more tired since then.
That would explain my relative silence in here lately. There's just not a lot to report, at least on a personal level.
