Today is my second real day at California. It's 7:48 in the morning right now, which makes it 10:48 in Oswego. I couldn't sleep so I thought I would update. At the airport in Syracuse, I met Marion Carlvaho. How crazy right? I hadn't seen her in years. Do you guys remember her? We caught up and chatted for about a half an hour until our flight left. She was going to Brazil to visit her family. Poor girl, her flight got delayed 45 minutes. They got here before us and we boarded before them. On the plane to Cinncinati, our layover, I sat next to a man who lives in Hawaii. I was reading the brochure for like, the air plane radio, which our short flight didn't have, but it had a Wicked channel. I know some of you would have passed out if you were me.:) On the way to Cinncinatti to L.A., I could have boughten a headset to watch the movie, Sahara, and listened to the radio, but I fell asleep or looked at the shopping catalouge. They had the craziest shit in there. So crazy I can't remember, but on the flight home I'll bring the catalouge home.
We arrived in L.A. at 10:15 L.A. time [Pacific?] which would be 1:15 in da morning for you guys. I was f'n tired. Seema, her boyfriend, and my cousin. Her apartment is very cute and the breeze goes right through the house at night from the ocean. It is perfection. Her complex has a pool: I swear it looks like a motel. Chris, the BF, had to go to Italy yesterday morning for a confrence, so no bonding time for me:(.
Yesterday we were all pretty tired so we had a fairly late start. We visited my cousin's apartment and his roomates, which was only 10 minutes from my sister's place. It was a nice old Indian time. We were planning on eating Breakfast at a Denny's but it was packed and we didn't want to wait. FYI, there are a lot of people in L.A. My cousin took is to the HopLi chinese restraunt. It was also perfaction. The prices were from $5:50- 7.50 and the portions were good. Everything included soup, white rice, and tea. The best part was the that the table had a lazy susan in the center and we could like, share and rotate and spin our food. There were chopsticks at every place setting, which I totaly used. We ordered chicken with mango and asparagus, vegetable fried rice, bean curd, and crispy fried chicken. So yoummy! We didn't think we could finish the food but we pretty much did. I took a picture of the table and me eating. I might be able to get pictures onto webshots from here, but I'm not sure. I can get on aim which is nice, I didn't know I was going to be able to.
After breakfast [lunch], we visited USC where my cousin went to school. The campus was right down town, but cut off from the city pretty much. It was a 'college town' so everything a student was need was right in walking distance. I learned that in California one can actually get a ticket for jay walking if its a main road. I also saw someone get pulled over for being dumb or not paying attention. There was a cop car in a right turn only lane and the the green truck in the next lane over cut him off and made the turn and the cop pulled his ass over. The USC campus was very pretty and pretty big. I liked it. We had some vitamen water and I went pee and we were off to China town.
We got a little loss going to China town. Stupid Indians. Just kidding. When we finally found it and were going to park, we passed a story filled with shiny and sparkly dresses and Seema and I at the same time said "ooo, let's go there." The dresses were wicked fucking cool. They had sequins and intersting flowers and chinese fabrics and I was going to buy one for the prom next year but they were $160 for the ones I liked so I decided against it. If I really want to be cooler than everyone I can visit my cousin's baby in Jersey and go down to Chinatown in NYC with my mom. Anyway but my dad bought some t-shirts for 5 for ten dolla and seema and i split 4 shirts dor ten for the fun of it. My dad is currently wearing his Bruce Lee shirt. Finally after seeing lots of pretty things, we decided to leave and I went back and bought shoes at the first store I went in to.
After China town we drove on Hollywood Blvd and looked at stuff and saw the Hollywood sign in the mountains. We went to the Kodak theatre complex where the oscars are held. It was ginourmous. There was a big egyptian arch way in the center with like 4 huge pillars with elephants on them. We could see the Hollywood sign from the outside like areas. We ate some pizza at a place called Grecco's which was yummy in my tummy [mushroom and pepporoni.]
We were all pretty tired by then so we had a quick walk on the Third Street prominade. There were trees with pretty lights, street performers like crummy breakdancers and guitar/flute bands, jazz improv against a tape. There were dinasour fountains which were cute.
Then I washed my face and went to bed. The end.
Today we are going to the San Diego zoo to go on an animal safari and the beaches. Tomorrow is Universal Studios. Las Vegas this weekend.
Have fun doing the parade those of you that have to be in it. Have a good fourth of July weekend. Be safe. As the freeway signs in L.A. say, always arrive don't drink and drive.
