So Patricia had her baby Saturday night. His name is Colt Winter Ho' Omaikai. Yeah, gotta love the traditional Hawaiian name. I don't think she's spelled or pronounced it the same way twice. But when it came to filling in the birth certificate that was how she wrote it down, so that's how it sticks. He was 9 pounds, 1 1/2 ounces and 20 1/2 inches. Kinda short but really big! He's really cute. Very alert... knows me as Auntie Camera Flash because I take so many pictures of him. So does his daddy. Tuesday night we went through the first 300 or so pictures that have been taken and I swear, he must see green and purple spots permanently now.
Ender doesn't know what to think of his brother. I don't think he knows what his brother is, aside from the little blanket bundle in a cradle. He tried to share his graham crackers with him in the hospital which was really cute and he tries to swing the cradle like he sees the adults do but he doesn't understand what the little person is or why he's there. His cousin Elijah was really funny. He took one look at the baby and said "ooooh ball!!!!!!!" At least Ender doesn't think Colt is a ball.
We spent a really fun night in the hospital because Ender had a 104 degree fever and no one really noticed it at first. Too much excitement going on with the new baby. After his weekend with me, he went to stay with Jerry's aunt for the day while we brought Colt home and developed a minor ear infection and sparked the fever. You know, nothing ever goes normally... she couldn't just go home with the kids and have a peaceful night or anything! So Patricia wound up walking from the maternity ward to the ER to check Ender in and then went home to feed the baby while I stayed with Ender and his father, who showed up to see him. That was tons of fun. But everyone is home now and doing great! Sanity has returned. For now. I work all day today so I won't be able to go see them until Saturday night. Where I will take more pictures, lol!
