Marebito

So many of you kow that I am a huge J-horror fan. This weekend I picked up a copy of Marebito. Its by the same director of Ju-On (The Grudge). This film is completly different though. This movie was disturbing in many ways. You walked away from it, saying it kind of was bad but 3 hours later as your brain puts everything together you are like hey that was just disturbing, good but disturbing. Its the same effect Jacobs Ladder has, which is the closest comparisan i can think of. You are never really sure what is real and what is happening in this movie. I would recomend but you might have to watch it twice.

Its about a videographer obssesed with fear, in praticular the fear before death. After capturing a sucide on camera he trys to find out what the man had seen before his death. Discovers a netherworld beneath tokyo where he finds a girl chained up there and takes her back his apartment to try to make her human.

The movie is shot with great cinemetragrpahy. A lot of the movie is also shot through the eyes of the camera which the main character always carrys around giving it a unique feel. If anyone else has seen this movie i would love to discuss the details and how they saw it.
