I can't stand it when people get exasperated with you when you ask them to explain their opinions or beliefs on a particular topic. If you feel so strongly about a particular issue, then it's all the more reason for you to have an absolutely soundproof argument to defend it, right? You wouldn't want to defend something that isn't, in your mind, 100% reasonable. At least I wouldn't.

I also can't stand it when people get so wrapped up in academia, surrounding themselves with their "intellectual friends" and arrogant jargon, so they can hide behind the fact that what they actually belief in either a) doesn't make any sense, or b) has no practical application to anybody or anything except their inflated egos.

This is why I do not want to become a professor. Knowledge ought to be accessible to everybody, and not just to the privileged few who can afford a fancy education or to those whose minds easily adapt to the absurd rules of academic conduct.

People always should be asked to explain themselves.
