With the eraser, erase everything BUT his cheek. To be sure you will be able to erase, click on the white box near the little sun, when it is circle by white, it means you can modify it. The black is where it is erased. (take a look here to see how my layer looks like.)

that's not an eraser, it's a mask ;)

Yes the white box is a mask but you use the eraser on it. Or at least this is how I see it :p

well, no you use a normal brush? there is a special eraser tool, that actively erases part of your image and then it can't be recovered... on the mask you just draw.

yes a normal brush, the normal eraser that is on the left of PS. Then I select the mask and erase on the icon where I want the layer to be erased.

I don't know maybe we're talking about the exact same thing but differently.

edit: you know, in case we don't, you should add this to your tuto :p

we are. I'm just talking about the names for things. because when you mention you wanna use the eraser-tool, you're not... you're using a mask and a normal brush. ;)

actual eraser-tool (which I never use)

but... why? and why on a mask? you really can just draw on the mask in b/w or grey... you do realise you can do grey on a mask, right? (sorry, bad wording, I always sound bitchy... I have a headache coming on... I'm really just curious)

because it is the way I found. I'm pragmatical when it comes to PS and try stuff. So it is the way I found to do it so I use this one. I really have no reasons. Sometimes I use the lasso tool and then choose for example a brightness/color layer for the zone I selected but most of the time I just erase, it is more precised. I don't know other ways.

(you don't seem bitchy to me btw)

lol, yeah see I started drawing on it and then it worked... but yeah, masking is just the best (don't say erase... it isn't erasing, please just say masking, pleaaaase. erasing means really taking the thing off)

(HURRAAYYYY <3)
