First of all, you can't believe my delight upon reading the title and summary and then working out which of the prompts had been written (I had originally submitted 10 but had then been told to cut it down to 3) - to be quite honest I would have been overjoyed at any of the prompts but I was so ecstatic to see you'd written the clone returns home, I can't even begin to describe my wild spazzing on LINE, snippets of which include "O M G O M G O M G O M G" and "GHFJHGCYRRTYDYRVHHDFYHVJVHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I was beside myself even before I was finished because I would have loved it no matter what kind of ending you could have chosen to write.
I loved the way you began, hinting at the end, the slow unfolding of sadness , the looming fate, the tiny moments and snatches and whispers and the important words that later break one's heart.
And then he leaves. And one hopes, but one knows, because of the tone, because of the choice of voice, there's a desperate hope but it's in vain and he returns home too soon, it's strange and the narrative is uneasy. Lu Han is an artist and he can touch the strange under his finger tips.
It's a grief that's exacerbated by the living reminder of what has been lost.
Let me just conclude this tiny snippet of comment (more to come but I'm afraid that I have to run now) with the fact that I adore how you chose to interpret this prompt, the clone without memories, the embodiment of grief that is itself completely innocent, almost cruelly doomed to a life of imitation, of rejection and second best.
THANK YOU. I will be back. ☆彡
