I really miss Flip Off. Courtney told me that I should flip someone off, preferably a new person, and attempt to start a new flipping off saga, but it could never be the same.
Oh, and this just in: RYAN IS A CAPITALIST! Not that that's very shocking, I figured it out a long time ago. But I'm so glad he's finally realizing it himself. He still denies that he's a Republican, but deep down, he knows he's a Republican. Being a capitalist and a Republican go hand in hand.
The craziness keeps building. I've been at Pratt for three weeks, as of today, and I'm still waiting to get into a routine. It's good for me to stay busy, because then I don't worry as much. But I do cherish my sleep. Like what was up with me voluntarily getting up at 10 this morning?? On a Sunday? When I didn't have to be at work until 4? My body is getting used to this whole 'waking up way too early' thing, and that's totally not good. That means I'm growing up, and that sucks. My parents voluntarily get up at like 7am on the weekends. What is up with that??
This past week was insane. Club Day was on Tuesday, and Dan and I shared our Pratt Republicans table with the Drama Club. We got a lot of nasty stares, and some comments, including:
"Why are you at an art school?"
"Thanks for making the rich richer."
"I'm not rich."
"I'm here to hound you..." (And then this annoying guy annoyingly went on for like ten minutes about how Republicans are wrong. He didn't just want to know why we were starting a Republican group...he wanted to know why we're Republicans! Like he just couldn't understand or grasp that concept. And he also stood in front of our sign and our table, which prevented other people from coming to talk to us. Ugh.)
The guy who was on the megaphone advertising Pratt Radio goes, "Where are the Young Republicans?" So I stood up, waved my arms, and was like, "We're over here!" He goes, "Why are we so much more awesome than you?"...on the megaphone! Whateva to him.
As annoying as all of these comments were, it just proves my point about how people at this school are persistently intolerant of those people who have different points of view.
But aside from those, we had 11 people sign up! That was really really encouraging. A couple kids were really excited to see our table. Only three of our posters advertising our meeting were torn down. Our first meeting was on Tuesday night, and it was very refreshing. We outlined our goals for this year, which includes a campus newsletter. We want to steer clear of name calling and extremism, and stay as fair as possible (I used 'Ann Coulter vs. Al Franken' as my example...we don't want to be like them). We had liberals/leftists, conservatives, and a libertarian show up, and it was such a nice discussion. We all took turns and listened to each other! I hope they come back this week, and I really hope we can get this newsletter off the ground.
Our Republican table was right across the sidewalk from the improv table and we kept giving each other the evil eye, like, "How many people do you guys have signed up?" type stuff. When I went to the improv table to scope out the scene, they were bragging that a rabbi signed up for their group. They were like, "Do you guys have a rabbi?" and so I picked up some of their fliers and threw them and went back to our table. Then the rabbi came up to our table and signed up for our group! So yes, to answer the question that's been on everyone's mind, we do have a rabbi! Boo-ya-ha-ha!
Carlo, Jodie, and I went to a vintage clothing store on Friday. I actually bought stuff! I knew that would make Courtney so proud. I bought an orange shirt that has a tie and two shirt pockets drawn on it, a brown shirt with a pirate skull, and a mermaid bag. The mermaid is topless, and when Andy saw that, he made me turn around and count to ten. When I turned back around, he had put electrical tape over the scandalous part. He totally censored it!
Andy and I were so bored on Friday and we desperately wanted to film a movie, but no one had a camera. We had a title picked out and everything: 'Midnight Shenanigans' Perhaps one day, we will film it. We were coming up with so many awesome ideas for it, too! We also found out that we can't go on 'Cram,' cuz they film it in LA and we're all the way in New York. Friday was the day of crushing blows.
Courtney and I talked on the phone for like an hour and a half last night. She's coming to visit tomorrow and I'm so excited! She's crashing Narkunasty's class, and then we're going to the cafeteria right afterwards to discuss what happened in class. It'll be just like old times! Courtney and I figured out that Narkunasty is going to get so nervous when he sees Courtney and he'll stutter and shuffle his papers and sweat more than he normally does. I can't wait to see that.
The twins and Natasha dropped by last night. Twin Dan visited this weekend and that was awesome. I wish we could've hung out more.
lol, VP-Dan and I were going to go to Karen's last night because her away message announced that she was having a party. There wasn't a party. What up?
Then I talked to Dave on the phone for about another hour and a half. He's coming to visit in a week, and it'll be awesome! And Libby's coming in like three weeks! And Lauren's coming for Spring Break (I know that one's a ways off, but it's still worth mentioning)! Gosh, I feel like I'm living in CrazyTown (improv reference!)
Improv is definitely different this year. Like we're all serious about it this year, which will make us better in the long run. We can't ask questions in skits anymore, and now, that's all I ever want to do. Questions are the only thing that come to mind anymore. But during the Question Game last year, I could never think of any questions. My brain always wants to do the opposite of what its told. Whateva brain, I never liked you anyway.
We're trying not to goof off as much as we did last year (well, we'd like to goof off, but Ryan doesn't let us goof off, lol) And I hear that the new people rock, which is so cool! And a bit intimidating, I must admit. Just call me Ms. Paranoid McWorrisome from now on.
lol, ok, I really should stop making such insanely long posts, because I know some people only skim for their names ::coughRYANcough:: so it's a bit pointless to go on and on and on if not many people make it to the end. But I know Former-RA Alex will make it to the end, right Former-RA Alex?
I still have to do Republican stuff and work on homework and remember to go to the Bursar's tomorrow and take pictures for Tech and get on SNL. My gosh, there's so much stuff to do! This is why I need a clone.
