[He pauses. He's not sure he wants to talk about this, but after a minute, he goes on.]

That my mother helped to create the Wretched Egg. And that I knew her when I was young.

I didn't have time to think about it until I got here but... He must have meant Shiro. There's no one else he could possibly mean.
