Reality Check

It's tough to get a slap-in-the-face type of moment to put things into perspective.  I was going to do a whiny post today about how much Halloween means to me and how it basically didn't exist for me this year, but after reading a very serious and honest post from a close friend earlier, I couldn't.  It just made me feel all "first world problems" and a bit ashamed of myself.

Regardless of my own issues with the lack of Halloween-i-ness this year, it was fun to introduce Gareth to it.  We took him to our local mall yesterday to trick or treat, and it was a lot of fun to see him and the other little ones going from table to table to stock up on sweets.  He didn't even really know what he was doing, but he was having fun.  We threw together a pirate outfit for him (I'd share a picture, but the camera is downstairs somewhere at the moment) and everyone fell in love with him.  We didn't do any trick-or-treating tonight because of the damp weather, but he enjoyed looking at the kids in costume that came to the door.

In random news, a week from today is the seven year anniversary of Bardsworth.  It happens to fall on an update day, which will serve nicely for two major announcements.  First, I'm going back to twice-a-week updates (haven't done that since 2008).  Second, I'll be launching a Kickstarter campaign to finish and print my second Bardsworth collection (the first was released in 2008... it was a busy year).  I'm feeling rather pessimistic about the outcome, but I'm still hopeful.  We'll see.

I think the kiddo is finally asleep...

Oops, typed that too soon.  Guess I'm waiting a bit longer to sneak back downstairs and raid the leftover Halloween candy.
