McCainey cranking up the heat

I'm finding politics more enjoyable this year since I don't like anyone.

[Yahoo!] To help people weather the downturn immediately, McCain urged Congress to institute a "gas-tax holiday" by suspending the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  He also renewed his call for the United States to stop adding to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and thus lessen to some extent the worldwide demand for oil.

Naturally the price of crude would probably go up based on more "speculation".  I heard a very interesting comment made regarding the 'Strategic Petroleum Reserve' from the Shell Oil CEO who appears from time to time on CNBC to answer general oil & gas market questions.  If all of the taps were turned off, so to speak, and the U.S. were to continue our current petroleum usage, the 'Strategic Reserve' would last the for six hours.  Something to remember when you hear politicians making  calls to 'tap' into the reserve to alleviate high prices at the pump.  It's all bullshit posturing.
